As our contribution to the Dulwich Arts Trail, the church commissioned local letterpress artist, Michelle Dwyer, to create an exhibition. This was displayed in the church building over two weekend on 9-10 and 16-17 May.
Some weeks earlier, the church hosted a ‘Weaving Trust’ event that generated comments that Michelle used in her display. This event (a bit like speed dating without the romance!) invited people to participate in a curated conversation, talking with others for just a few minutes around a set question and then moving on to further conversations. This is an initiative developed by Citizens UK to facilitate ‘conversations across difference’ in neighbourhoods and between organisations.
Michelle listened to the conversations, invited people to write down key words or phrases and created the display, which highlighted features of good community. On 17 May, the Peckham Chamber Orchestra performed in front of the display to an audience of about 40 people.
