Sunday morning meeting at Amott Road Baptist Church.
The theme for Advent is the Nazareth Manifesto found in Luke 4:18-19. This is not a traditional Advent passage but it makes sense to look at it during this season. Advent is about the coming of Jesus – but why did he come? In this passage, often called the Nazareth Manifesto, Jesus quotes from the prophet Isaiah and sets out his agenda. The Spirit of God has anointed him, he says, for several liberating and transformative purposes. This is why he has come. This is the purpose of Advent. And if this is what God’s Spirit empowered Jesus to do, what does this mean for his followers? Join us as we explore this exciting and profound passage.
Coffee is ready from 10:15am, do pop in early for some quiet or for a chat.
After our Sunday gathering, we will be heading to the Gowlett Pub on Amott Road, to ‘Write for Rights’.
Every year, Amnesty International runs 'Write For Rights', a campaign over November and December where people are encouraged to write messages of support to those around the world who have suffered injustice, and support their campaigns for justice. Join us in the pub to write cards and enjoy a pint and pizza at the same time!
