Bible Book Club

The Bible – a weird book but more popular than ever!

According to recent media reports, there has been a huge increase in the sale of Bibles. Bookshops report lots of people walking in and asking for Bibles. Not churchgoers but people exploring faith and spirituality. Maybe you or one of your friends have bought a copy recently.

But the Bible is not an easy book to understand – actually it is a collection of 66 books written over many centuries by many authors. As well as beautiful poetry, wise counsel and extraordinary promises, it contains strange stories, appalling violence and odd practices. Some readers find it puzzling and offensive; others find it thrilling and life-changing.

The Bible Book Club at Amott Road Baptist Church offers an opportunity to read parts of the Bible together and to share what we are learning and the questions it raises. No preaching but relaxed and open conversation. And the bottom line: what, if anything, has this weird ancient text got to say to us today?

All welcome! Come along, find out more, help shape what we do together.

We can supply a Bible in contemporary English if you haven’t got one.

To let us know you are coming, you can email us through the ‘contact’ page - or just turn up on the day.
